If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the website or its materials.

1. Purpose of the website

This website exists for educational, linguistic, scholarly, creative, and personal study purposes. It provides learning materials, articles, dictionary entries, exercises, downloadable resources, fonts, applications, documents, and related tools connected to Neo-Khuzdul, Tolkien-inspired Dwarven studies, and the work of The Dwarrow Scholar.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the materials on this website are provided free of charge for personal study and non-commercial educational use.

2. Ownership of content

Unless otherwise stated, all original content on this website belongs to The Dwarrow Scholar.

This includes, but is not limited to: lessons; exercises; answer structures; dictionary entries; definitions; grammatical explanations; articles; PDFs; study notes; correction texts; examples; UI wording; learning paths; course structures; visual designs; icons; graphics; audio files; video files; downloadable materials; fonts; tools; applications; databases; and platform systems.

These materials are protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual property rights. Copyright protection does not require registration before it applies.

3. Personal study licence

You may use the materials on this website for personal study.

  • read articles and dictionary entries;
  • complete exercises;
  • download materials that are intentionally made available for download;
  • use provided resources for your own private learning;
  • refer others to the website by sharing a link.

You may not claim ownership of any material from this website.

4. Prohibited use

You may not, without prior written permission from The Dwarrow Scholar:
• copy, reproduce, republish, sell, rent, licence, redistribute, or commercially exploit website materials;
• upload materials from this website to another website, platform, archive, course, app, file-sharing service, or public database;
• use Scholarium materials to create a competing course, app, website, language-learning platform, dictionary, exercise bank, or educational product;
• scrape, mass-download, extract, mirror, or systematically copy website content;
• reverse-engineer platform systems, course structures, exercise logic, or scoring systems;
• use any material from this website for AI training, machine learning datasets, or automated content generation;
• use materials for commercial purposes.

5. Dictionary use

The online dictionary is provided as a learning and reference tool.

Dictionary entries, definitions, terminology, formatting, classifications, examples, and related linguistic notes may not be copied wholesale, scraped, reproduced as a separate dictionary, or used to build another database, app, word list, commercial tool, AI tool, or competing educational platform without written permission.

Short references, quotations, or citations are allowed for normal discussion, provided that The Dwarrow Scholar and the website are clearly acknowledged.

6. Offensive, vulgar, or sensitive language in the dictionary

The online dictionary may contain words, meanings, examples, or linguistic notes that some readers may consider offensive, vulgar, indecent, discriminatory, culturally sensitive, inappropriate, outdated, adult, or otherwise unsuitable for certain audiences.

Such entries are included for reasons of linguistic completeness, documentation, translation accuracy, and scholarly reference. Their inclusion does not mean that The Dwarrow Scholar endorses, encourages, recommends, approves of, or personally supports the use of those words or expressions.

A dictionary records language. It does not necessarily approve of every word it contains.

Users are responsible for judging whether a word, phrase, translation, or example is appropriate for their own context, audience, culture, age group, publication, conversation, or creative work.

7. Library materials, PDFs, articles, and handouts

The library section may include PDFs, articles, handouts, guides, lessons, essays, reference documents, and other downloadable or readable materials.

Unless a document explicitly states otherwise, these materials are for personal study only. They may not be redistributed, sold, adapted into another course, uploaded elsewhere, bundled with other products, or used commercially without written permission.

Downloading a file does not transfer ownership of that file or its contents.

8. Fonts, applications, and downloadable tools

Some fonts, applications, files, or tools may be made available for download.

These are provided "as is" and should only be downloaded from the official website or other official channels of The Dwarrow Scholar. You are responsible for deciding whether a file is suitable for your device, operating system, software setup, and intended use.

Before installing or opening any downloaded file, you should take normal precautions, including keeping your system updated, using reputable security software, and backing up important data.

The Dwarrow Scholar is not responsible for damage, data loss, software conflicts, device problems, installation issues, incompatibility, or other problems arising from the download, installation, use, misuse, modification, or redistribution of files, fonts, tools, or applications, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

9. No guarantee of uninterrupted access

The website, Scholarium, dictionary, library, downloads, and other services may be changed, updated, removed, interrupted, restricted, or discontinued at any time.

No guarantee is made that the website will always be available, error-free, secure, complete, or compatible with every device, browser, operating system, or software environment.

10. Accuracy and educational use

Great care is taken in preparing the materials on this website. However, the content is provided for educational and creative study purposes and may contain errors, outdated information, incomplete sections, experimental material, or later revisions.

The Dwarrow Scholar may update, correct, expand, remove, or reinterpret materials at any time.

Nothing on this website should be treated as professional legal, technical, academic, medical, financial, security, or other specialist advice.

11. Tolkien, Middle-earth, and third-party intellectual property

The Dwarrow Scholar is an independent fan-scholar project. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, it is not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by, or officially connected to the Tolkien Estate, Middle-earth Enterprises, Embracer Group, HarperCollins, New Line Cinema, Warner Bros., Standing Stone Games, or any other rights holder.

References to Tolkien, Middle-earth, Dwarves, Khuzdul, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, or related works are made for scholarly, educational, linguistic, critical, or fan-study purposes.

All third-party names, works, trademarks, and intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners.

12. Neo-Khuzdul and original reconstruction work

Neo-Khuzdul materials on this website represent the original reconstruction, expansion, teaching system, terminology, and scholarly work of The Dwarrow Scholar, except where Tolkien's own attested material or third-party sources are explicitly referenced.

The inclusion of linguistic forms, translations, cultural notes, examples, reconstructed material, or dictionary entries does not place those materials in the public domain.

13. User accounts and student conduct

Where user accounts, student profiles, course access, exercises, submissions, or progress tracking are provided, users are expected to use them honestly and respectfully.

  • share your account with others;
  • attempt to access another user's account;
  • interfere with the website's operation;
  • submit malicious files, code, spam, or abusive material;
  • attempt to bypass access restrictions;
  • copy hidden exercise data, answer keys, or correction systems;
  • use the platform in a way that harms other users or the website.

Access may be restricted, suspended, or removed if these terms are breached.

14. Submitted material

If you submit answers, comments, corrections, questions, feedback, translations, or other material through Scholarium or related channels, you remain responsible for what you submit.

By submitting material, you allow The Dwarrow Scholar to read, store, review, correct, respond to, and use that material as needed to provide teaching, feedback, technical support, moderation, or platform improvement.

You should not submit anything confidential, unlawful, offensive, harmful, or owned by someone else unless you have the right to do so.

15. External links

These links are provided for convenience or reference only. The Dwarrow Scholar does not control external websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, downloads, opinions, or actions.

The presence of a link does not necessarily imply endorsement.

16. Third-party downloads and tools

Some resources discussed or linked on this website may come from third parties. Such third-party materials are governed by their own terms, licences, privacy policies, and conditions.

You are responsible for checking whether third-party materials are safe, lawful, suitable, and compatible with your needs.

17. No commercial reuse

The fact that Scholarium or other parts of this website may be free to use does not mean that the materials are free for commercial reuse.

You may not take free materials from this website and use them to create paid courses, paid apps, subscription platforms, commercial dictionaries, commercial tools, monetised videos, paid downloads, commercial datasets, AI tools, or other commercial products without written permission.

18. Limited permission for sharing

You may share links to the website.

You may quote short excerpts for discussion, review, study, or commentary, provided that:
• the excerpt is not excessive;
• the source is clearly credited;
• the quotation does not replace the need to visit the original website;
• the material is not used commercially;
• the quotation does not misrepresent the original context.

For larger use, written permission is required.

19. Disclaimer of warranties

The website, Scholarium, dictionary, library, downloads, tools, fonts, files, applications, and all related materials are provided "as is" and "as available".

No warranty is given that they will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, complete, accurate, up to date, compatible with your device, or suitable for your particular purpose.

20. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Dwarrow Scholar shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or economic loss, including loss of data, loss of profit, loss of income, loss of goodwill, device damage, software conflicts, business interruption, or loss arising from use of the website, downloads, tools, fonts, applications, dictionary, library, or Scholarium platform.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted by law, including liability for intentional misconduct, fraud, gross negligence where it cannot lawfully be excluded, or harm to life or physical integrity where applicable law does not allow exclusion.

21. Changes to the website and these terms
